About Rene
A genuine conservative voice in the Capitol

Surviving cancer taught Rene firsthand that her faith and perseverance are vital to overcoming any obstacles in life.

Rene is a mother, wife, registered nurse, healthcare administrator, and cancer survivor. Rene was born in Arlington, Texas, but has lived all over the country, finally settling in North Carolina where she has lived since 1992.

Rene began her career as an intensive care unit nurse and then worked as a flight nurse for nearly 15 years. In 2017, she started working as a healthcare administrator handling logistics to streamline the air medical program at her current hospital. She specializes in finding ways to make processes more efficient and effective; a skill which she plans on taking with her to Washington.

While attending nursing school, Rene worked part-time to pay for tuition and earned her first degree from The University of South Carolina. She later graduated from Campbell University with a Bachelor of Applied Science and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Winston-Salem State University. She went on to earn a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership from East Carolina

Rene is a member of the Board of Directors for the Association of Air Medical Services, a member of the Board of Trustees for the MedEvac Foundation International, and a Regent and Instructor for the Medical Transport Leadership Institute.

Rene is the proud mother of one son, Ryan, who is set to marry his fiance, Shannon; the two live in Durham and Ryan also works in the medical field. Rene and her husband, Andy, enjoy country living in rural Orange County with their dogs Midas and Milo; a 14 year old Golden Retriever and a 7 year old Pyrenees mix rescue, respectively. When Rene and Andy aren’t caring for their dogs, they enjoy traveling, attending Durham Bulls baseball games, and spending time with friends and family.
